19 March 2020

*** Please note that the guidance below is correct at the time of publishing. However, please be advised that this is could be subject to change at very short notice ***

Latest update: 23 March 2020

Booking An Appointment

With immediate effect, we will not be taking further bookings for routine appointments at Pride Veterinary Centre.

This includes:

  • Vaccinations
  • Flea and worm appointments
  • Neutering (castration and spays)
  • Routine dental work
  • VIP checks, dental rechecks, new pet checks, or similar routine checks

We will continue to see ill and emergency patients. We will still be able to prescribe flea and worming medications, but ask that you please weigh your pet at home in order for us to prescribe the correct dosage.

Routine work has also ceased at our other local Scarsdale Vets practices. They will continue to see ill and emergency pets.

Already Have An Appointment Booked?

We will continue to see pets that already have appointments booked, unless you fall under one of the following categories:

  • You are showing symptoms of 37.8C or above or a cough
  • You have been in contact with anyone showing the symptoms highlighted above
  • You have recently travelled to a high-risk country

We kindly ask that you get someone else to bring your pet to its appointment if any of this applies to you.

A member of the team will be calling you to discuss your appointment further, if they haven’t already done so.

Booking Appointments At Other Scarsdale Vets Practice

We will still see your pet if it is ill or in an emergency, unless you fall under one of the following categories:

  • You are showing symptoms of 37.8C or above or a cough
  • You have been in contact with anyone showing the symptoms highlighted above
  • You have recently travelled to a high-risk country

If any of this applies to you, please get someone else to bring your pet to their appointment.

Arriving For Your Appointment

We are taking social distancing measures within the practice to reduce the amount of social contact for our teams.

Please adhere to the following guidance:

  • Only one person brings the patient to the practice for the appointment
  • If you are classified as ‘vulnerable’, please get someone else to bring your pet in
  • You arrive on time and not too early for your appointment

To minimise risk, we will only be allowing one client and patient in our waiting areas at a time. We therefore ask that you call us when you have arrived and wait outside or in your car until it is time for your appointment.

Please use the hand sanitisers provided both when you arrive at our practice and when you enter the consult room. If you can’t find them, please ask a member of our team for assistance.

Protocols In Practice

We have a number of protocols in place in our practices to help protect our staff, clients and patients:

In the interest of keeping our teams and clients safe we request that you do not come into the practice if you feel unwell. This includes a cough or cold. If you do cough or sneeze whilst in practice, please cover your nose and mouth and use a tissue. Our staff will direct you to the nearest bin. Please wash your hands and use sanitiser afterwards.

We would prefer it if your pet were accompanied by just one person to avoid crowding in the waiting area.

We will avoid shaking hands with you for both yours and our safety.

Please use the hand sanitisers supplied in practice when you arrive and when you enter the consult room. If you don’t know where they are located, please ask one of our Client Care Advisors.

We would prefer it if you could pay with a card rather than cash as suggested by the WHO.

You will see staff members cleaning and disinfecting areas of the practice. We apologise for any inconvenience, but we believe that these preventative measures will help to reduce any risks to both clients and our staff.

We have robust internal procedures in place should a member of staff feel unwell or who are at risk of contracting COVID 19. This is to ensure the least risk possible for the spread of the virus. Home Visits We are no longer able to do home visits for pets with immediate effect. If you are unable to bring your pet to the practice yourself, we advise that get a friend or family member to bring your pet to the practice on your behalf.

Households Infected With Coronavirus With Pets That Require Veterinary Care

If your household is in self-isolation and your pet requires veterinary care please call your local practice to book an appointment.

To reduce the risk of spreading the infection to our staff and other clients, we ask that you arrange for an individual not in your household and not in self isolation themselves to bring your pet in to the practice.

They will then need to call the practice on arrival so that your pet can be examined in the car. Please note that the vet and nurse will be wearing personal protective equipment to carry out the examination of your pet as a precaution.

Pet Hotel

Bookings at our cat hotel and dog hotel will stay as normal at the current time.

Grooming has been closed at Pride Veterinary Centre.

Hydrotherapy and physiotherapy have been temporarily closed.

Group Classes

Dog training, puppy classes and agility are all also cancelled with immediate effect.
