Pride Veterinary Centre is a new state-of-the-art Small Animal Referral Hospital conveniently located at Pride Park in Derby.
This exciting new development extends over two connected buildings giving us enough space to house the staff and equipment necessary for a multi-disciplinary referral service. The facilities include discipline-specific consulting rooms, five large operating theatres, spacious wards, intensive care facilities, digital radiography and fluoroscopy, CT, MRI, an endoscopy suite, a cardiology suite, a chemotherapy treatment room, a radioactive iodine ward, a hydrotherapy pool and a spacious conference room.
As a Clinical Associate Practice, we work closely with the University of Nottingham School of Veterinary Medicine and Science. There are a number of their highly qualified clinicians permanently based in our hospital and together we provide a diploma led referral services in a range of disciplines:
Their work is supported by a number of staff who continue care once the referral procedures are completed. Our surgical patients benefit from treatment by our qualified hydrotherapists and physiotherapists in the hydrotherapy pool, on the treadmill and in the hospital. We have nurses with further training in managing chronic diseases, such as diabetes and kidney failure. There is a nurse specifically trained to provide appropriate clinical nutrition to all our hospital patients and we have two members of the team qualified in animal behaviour.
Our aim is to provide support to your clients and to your practice throughout the referral process. Our experienced and helpful Referral Receptionists make booking appointments simple. Our clinicians will happily discuss cases and give you advice. You can contact us by telephone to speak directly to a clinician. Please send clinical notes, laboratory results, radiographs and ECGs so that we can best advise you on the case.
We will keep you up to date with the progress of the case with regular updates, and discharge patients back into your care as soon as possible. We will continue to provide you with advice and support, particularly with complicated or chronic diseases. We are keen to keep you involved in your referred cases as much as possible, so you are welcome to accompany patients to the hospital and spend time with the team involved in managing the case.
We also offer regular Clinical Clubs and CPD evenings. These give you an opportunity to meet our team and have a look at the hospital facilities. The Clinical Clubs and CPD are designed to be an informal way of keeping up to date, learning new skills, picking up practical tips and most importantly discussing difficult and frustrating cases. They also help us to understand how best to tailor our referral services to your needs.
You don’t need to attend a CPD event or follow a case to visit the hospital. Just give us a call and come and meet the team!
