Malcolm Cobb


Professor of Comparative Medicine, University of Nottingham

Department: Cardiology

Malcolm graduated from the University of Cambridge in 1984 and subsequently worked in mixed practice in Norfolk for 4 years before completing a residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine at the Royal Veterinary College.

Malcolm has worked in a range of veterinary roles, including working in the pharmaceutical industry, education and mixed practice before taking the role of Deputy Head of School, Professor of Comparative Medicine at the University of Nottingham School of Veterinary Medicine and Science in 2005 where he has been one of the key people who developed the veterinary curriculum.

Malcolm’s areas of clinical interest are small animal cardiology, having gained the RCVS Certificate and Diploma in Veterinary Cardiology and a PhD in Heart Muscle Disease, and veterinary education, and he enjoys speaking locally and nationally on small animal cardiology.  He was recently awarded the prestigious University of Nottingham Dearing Award for his “Outstanding contribution to the development of teaching and student learning”.

Outside of work, Malcolm classes himself as a very amateur musician playing drums in 2 bands and also plays the guitar.
