Harper's Success Story

Harper originally presented to the Oncology department at Pride Veterinary Centre as an urgent referral. Her owner reported an increase in her respiration rate, anaemia, being generally lethargic and not herself. Her local vet took samples of any enlarged lymph nodes via fine needle aspirate, which confirmed a large cell lymphoma. Further radiography also confirmed there was infiltrative lymphoma in the lungs. This diagnosis meant Harper had a poor prognosis, but her owners were keen to go ahead and try chemotherapy.

Harper completed her chemotherapy course over 6 months. Radiography showed no infiltrate in the lungs and the samples taken showed no evidence of lymphoma, meaning that Harper was in remission. This is the best possible outcome we could have wished for. Harper now has regular check ups at her local vets, and we have the option to re-start treatment if necessary. This is a great example of the Pride Veterinary Centre referral team working with the local vet to ensure the best possible outcome for Harper.

Whilst we really miss seeing Harper and her owners regularly, it is such a pleasure to see her get back to enjoying life with her family, going on lots of holidays, and generally being spoilt rotten!
