Francis graduated from Cambridge in 1997. He worked in mixed practice for two years before moving to a small animal hospital in Leeds in 1999. Francis moved to Scarsdale Veterinary Group in 2002. He gained his Certificate in Small Animal Medicine in 2003 and became a partner in 2006.

Francis takes referrals in small animal internal medicine and has a particular interest in gastroenterology, oncology and performing a range of endoscopic examinations. He is also responsible for running the Small Animal Referral Service at Pride Veterinary Centre.
